The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani

“The first kidnappings happened two hundred years before. Some years it was two boys taken, some years two girls, sometimes one of each. But if at first the choices seemed random, soon the pattern became clear. One was always beautiful and good, the child every parent wanted as their own. The other was homely and odd, an outcast from birth. An opposing pair, plucked from youth and spirited away.”

This year, best friends Sophie and Agatha are about to discover where all the lost children go: the fabled School for Good & Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains. As the most beautiful girl in Gavaldon, Sophie has dreamed of being kidnapped into an enchanted world her whole life. With her pink dresses, glass slippers, and devotion to good deeds, she knows she’ll earn top marks at the School for Good and graduate a storybook princess. Meanwhile Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks, wicked pet cat, and dislike of nearly everyone, seems a natural fit for the School for Evil.

But when the two girls are swept into the Endless Woods, they find their fortunes reversed—Sophie’s dumped in the School for Evil to take Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training, while Agatha finds herself in the School For Good, thrust amongst handsome princes and fair maidens for classes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication.. But what if the mistake is actually the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are…?

The School for Good & Evil is an epic journey into a dazzling new world, where the only way out of a fairy tale is to live through one.

  1. I don't have recurring dreams. I just have random and very weird dreams when I remember them... otherwise, I almost never remember my dreams

  5. I've never had recurring dreams and almost never have had nightmares. I have noticed that I don't have as many dreams now as I did when I was younger .... is this a sign of old age?

  6. I'm currently listening to the audiobook version of this and Polly Lee does an amazing narration. I'd love a print copy of the book just because the cover is just so beautiful. This is probably going to be one of my favorite books this year....I really love the characters so I'm glad that it's supposed to be a trilogy. Oh, and I've heard that the book is going to be made into a movie.

  7. I've had a few dreams that repeated over time, but none for the past few years. My most memorable one was being in a cave system and a grizzly bear was chasing me. I would run down different parts of the caves, following twists and turns and somehow it seemed like the bear was both in front and behind me. Eventually I would find a place I could climb up on some sort of rock pillar where the bear couldn't reach me. I used to get that one a lot.

  10. My recurring dream is I'm at work and can't leave and it never closes! What a nightmare. It's probably because of stress and not liking my job!

  11. I do a recurring dream when I was a kid and I used to dream it often. I was running on the roads and was being chased by the weird creatures and it was mostly night and those creatures looked freaky under the street lights.

  12. I had only 1 reoccurring dream so far. It was a long time ago. And I can still remember all the details of that dream like it was yesterday.

  13. Yes. I always dream I'm fighting zombies! I also have recurring elements in my dreams like there is sometimes tornadoes, for some reason I'm talking to people while trying to use the bathroom, the setting is an old school I went to, and when I'm trying to run but can run very fast. Crazy I know. :D

  15. I don't have recurring dreams now but when I was a child I used to have a recurring dream that my biological Father would come and get me from my Mother LOL it's really silly but as a child I was so scared my Father would take me from my Mum.

  16. I have a few recurring dreams. One I had again last night, actually. I'm in this strange building and there are people all over the place, getting on and off elevators. I always seem to get on the broken elevator and end up having to crawl out when it gets stuck between levels... then I have to go through heaps of staircases, trying to figure out which is the right one to get me to my destination. There's more involved in it, but that's the general idea of it. So weird.

    Thanks very much!
