Paul Scanlan is Legion M’s co-founder and has been the Chief Executive Officer of Legion M since its inception in March 2016. Immediately before that, Mr. Scanlan was Cofounder and President at MobiTV. In 1999, Mr. Scanlan cofounded MobiTV, Inc., a leader in monetizing media outside the living room. From 2007 to 2016 Mr. Scanlan was the President of MobiTV and played a crucial role in MobiTV’s success from a startup to a market leader in a fast growing space. Mr. Scanlan continues to serve as a director on the MobiTV board. In 2005, Mr. Scanlan and his MobiTV team earned an Emmy Award for Technical Achievement in Advancing Television, and his accomplishments at MobiTV were profiled in 2011 in Tarang Shah’s book, “Venture Capitalists at Work: How VCs Identify and Build BillionDollar Successes.” Mr. Scanlan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Radio, TV & Film from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Prior to Legion M, Jeff was cofounder and CEO of Underground Labs, a product development studio that built mobile apps, websites, and enterprise products for clients including AT&T, Sprint, NFL, SEC, ACC, Universal Music, Warner Music, Sony Music, Diet Coke, Paramount Pictures, and more. Underground Labs also created the New York Rock Exchange, a first-of-its-kind marketplace that allowed fans to own a piece of a song.
Prior to founding Underground Labs, Jeff was a cofounder of MobiTV, the world’s first live mobile television service. Jeff led engineering and product development as the company scaled from 3 to 300 employees, won an Emmy Award for Innovation in Television, and grew to over 25MM paying subscribers.
Prior to MobiTV Jeff designed toys for Hasbro and theme park rides for Universal Studios. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA.
Outside of work, Jeff is a dedicated husband, father, teacher, board/video gamer, and amateur auto racer.
Mandy, co-written and directed by Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow), is a revenge thriller staring Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage. The official IMDB synopsis:
Mandy is set in the primal wilderness of 1983 where Red Miller, a broken and haunted man hunts an unhinged religious sect who murdered the love of his life.
In addition to Cage, Mandy stars Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Black Mirror), Linus Roache (Homeland, Vikings, Batman Begins), Ned Dennehy (Good Omens, Peaky Blinders), Olwen Fouéré (Striking Out, Space Truckers), Richard Brake (Game of Thrones, Kingsmen: The Secret Service), Bill Duke (Predator, Commando, X-Men: The Last Stand) and Sam Louwyk.
The score for the film is being created by two time Academy Award nominee Jóhann Jóhannsson (Prisoners, Theory of Everything, Sicario, and Arrival)
The film is being produced by Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller and Elijah Wood for SpectreVision, Nate Bolotin for XYZ Films, and Adrian Politowski for Umedia, and is being executive produced by Nick Spicer, Lisa Whalen, Todd Brown, Maxime Cottray, Martin Metz, Peter Bevan, Christopher Figg, and Robert Whitehouse.

From an investment standpoint, our deal for Mandy has good upside with little downside risk, with a return that is diversified across two revenue streams (film and soundtrack).
Bottom line--while we haven't seen the film yet, we believe it's got all the ingredients for something truly sensational. The dark and violent nature of the movie means that it won't be for everyone, but our hope is that this movie's story, soundtrack and aesthetic will resonate with passionate fans and become a Legion Midnight classic.

The producers at SpectreVision (Lisa Whalen, Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller, and Elijah Wood) have been friends and allies of Legion M since day one, and we've been searching for the right project to work on. For Mandy, Legion M has invested in both the film and Jóhann Jóhannsson's heavy metal soundtrack. It's a production stage investment (meaning that we haven't seen the film, as it's not yet complete), but we have had the opportunity to see some of the footage.
