Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community. This book was amazing! Jonas was an amazing, loyal and interesting character. The Giver was also an interesting character too. I was surprised that The Giver made Jonas his receiver. The Giver would always cheer Jonas up. Jonas never gave up on his quests. I can't wait if there will be a second book, The Giver was truly an amazing book to read. I can't wait to read more books from Lois Lowry.
