Has to be the Christmas when I was 9, my sisters and I all got roller blades.. we all put them on and were out in the street skating from 8am to about 5pm that day, it was awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteI have fond memories of Christmas in the late 90s, early 2000s when I was younger. The days leading up to and the night before felt magical. Maybe I'm looking through rose-coloured glasses, but the holidays seems to be for the kids. :P

ReplyDeleteMy fave holiday memory is when I was a kid and we were at the tree lot trying to find out tree for the year. I was being extra picky and we were all getting tired, all of a sudden a tree literally fell off the rack and landed on me. I wasn't hurt but in an effort to calm me down and get us home with a tree, my dad told me the tree had picked me and I had to name her and we'd take her home. I named her Isabella and that summer I got a postcard for "her" that was a tree round my dad had cut off and mailed to me. She told me she was enjoying tree camp and couldn't wait to see me next Christmas. I still have the tree round somewhere, we made it into an ornament. I 100% believed my dad for like two years that Isabella came back every year and she'd written me from camp. The "postcard" is so clearly my dad's handwriting, but it was the sweetest thing he's ever done.

My favorite Memory was just last Christmas. Made lots of memories my Grandpa passed 2 days after Christmas
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday memory was one of the Christmases my family spent at my grandfather's in Florida. I was never closer to my brother (he passed away the year I got married - he was just 26 and I really miss him). It was just the perfect holiday and the family was all together and happy. We didn't have a TV in the guest house at my grandparents so we listened to the radio a lot. The song Snoopy's Christmas came out that year and was played constantly - every time I hear it now, I think of that particular Christmas.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday memory was the last Christmas with my granddad. He had alzheimers and we almost did not go home becasue my hubby could not get off but spur of the moment, I packed up 3 kids and made the 21 hour drive without him. When we got there, we got my aunt to take my grandmom to get her hair done and we snuck him out and took him to a pizza shop. He did not remember much by then but he definitly knew pizza and honestly, he acted like a kid like he knew we snuck him out from my grandmom. He had a great time and so did my kids, especially when we got back and had to hear my grandmom over sneaking him out. My grandad just smirked.
