TRANSCENDENT BY JUS ACCARDO GUEST POST
There are quite a few important players in the Denazen world, but the most essential two are Dez and Kale.
Dez is a tough, take no shit adrenalin junkie who has a troubled relationship with her father. In an attempt to rile him up one night, she brings home a strange boy. That single act of defiance changes her entire life and propels her into the world of the Sixes. She’s strong, opinionated, and will defend those she loves with her very last breath. There are many questions surrounding Dez’s past (without being specific and spoilery) and Transcendent holds all the answers we’ve been waiting for.
When writing the books, I’ve always pictured Dez as Avril Lavigne.
A couple of my fave Dez lines from Transcendent:
“Um, it’s…cute. That was nice of her, giving you a pet rock and all.”
“If she told you to stick your arm in a woodchipper, would you do that, too?”
Kale is a Six (a person with a special ability). His touch means instant death. Until the night he meets Dez, he’s lived as a captive and unwilling assassin for a group of power-hungry men with a truly twisted agenda. He’s hysterically ignorant of even the most basic social situations and often doesn’t understand why people act the way that they do, making for many laugh-out-loud scenarios. He’s sweet and he’s pure and his interactions with Dez will take your breath away. Oh, and he’s a serious badass ;)
While working on the books, Kale was always Ben Barnes in my mind.
A couple of my fave Kale lines from Transcendent:
“As if I wouldn’t follow you to hell and back again?”
“There is enough blood on my hands to drown entire cities.”
He swore he’d never kill, and now he’s out for blood.
He swore he’d never harm her, and now he struggles to control his fatal touch.
They’ve been to hell and back, over and over, but this time they might not survive the fire.
When the truth at the root of the Denazen Corporation’s origins begins to unfold, those behind the scenes will do anything to keep it hidden.
Dez and Kale will be pushed to their breaking point. As long buried secrets come to light, they must fight for their freedom—and each other—as they never have before.
Kale’s destructive power could win the battle, if he doesn’t lose himself to it in the process. Or Dez will be faced with an impossible task—saving the world from the boy she loves.
